DisguisedToast Ditches Twitch!

Jerermy Wang is the latest big name to sign on with one of Twitch’s competitors. One of the biggest surprises here is that unlike Shroud and Ninja who left for the relatively established Mixer, DisguisedToast has decided to go with Facebook Gaming. Facebook Gaming has only been around since 2018 and has been struggling to appeal to draw a wider viewer base. However, they have been slowly making strides towards growth since they integrated this feature within Facebook itself.

However, much of DisguisedToasts viewers are of a younger demographic, many of whom probably don’t even have Facebook accounts, not that that’s a major issue since Facebook is free. Nonetheless, it may still be difficult to coax younger viewers over to the fogies’ platform (and yes, I do count myself among the fogies.) Whether or not this will negatively affect his viewership will remain to be seen, but DisguisedToast is known for his pragmatism, so he no doubt took potential losses into account before signing the deal with Facebook.

Another noteworthy fact is that he chose to make this announcement without the fanfare of the aforementioned streamers. Instead, in a rather touching move, he decided to donate the $20,000 USD production check to St. Judes’ Childrens Hospital in Los Angeles instead and filmed a selfie announcement video from his hotel room instead.
