Her friends called her 'Eli' when she was growing up and her sister adapted it to 'Alias.' She decided to use this as her Twitch handle when she created her account, and then added the 'V' because 'Alias' was already taken. The 'V' is the Roman numeral '5' in reference the number of family members that she has.

Aliasv has been into TCG's such as Yu-Gi-Oh! since she was little and later got into video games in respose to the high crime rates in South Africa making it difficult her her to participate in after school sports and similar activities. However, she mainliy played console games until she became addicted to The Sims when she was in her late teens.

She was inspired to start streaming after watching her husband streaming for a while. He let her borrow his equipment, but she didn't really enjoy her first attempts. She decided to try it out again when she began playing the open beta of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game in August 2017 and discovered that she really enjoyed it. She later switched to maining Magic: The Gather Arena in April 2018 after she got tired of GWENT, with her community teaching her how to play from scratch. Thsi shift saw her channel really beginning to grow, and was signed with compLexity in November 2018.

AliasV is known for her sense of humor, quirkiness and constant interaction with her chat. She also does drafts whereby she allows her viewers to vote on her draft picks through an imbedded Twitch overlay.
