League of Legends was k3soju's first game after beginning high school. He became so dependent on it that he even skipped class to play it. He continued skipping classes while studying biomedical engineering at the University of Rochester. He was given the chance to compete in the NACS circuit as a top-laner in 2016 by one of his friends, which he did for a short period of time before getting banned.

He started his Masters in Business Analytics after earning his degree. After receiving a job offer from Cloud9 a month into his degree, he chose to forgo finishing college and focus solely on becoming a professional player. Over time, he shifted from being a professional streamer to more of a casual one. After playing Dota: Auto-chess and Fortnite for a while, he then switched to Teamfight Tactics (TFT). He did well, so in August 2019 he was given the chance to re-join Cloud9 as a member of their TFT roster.
