SyndereN means "The Culprit or The Sinner" in the game of Counter-Strike that he was playing many years ago. One of his friends made a mistake in the game. He had a thought that led him to choose this as his Handle.

Although syndereN grew up playing video games, he believes that his competitive nature didn't really take off until he started playing DotA 1.

Mad Mardigan and Tobiwan were primarily responsible for casting during DotA 1. SydereN used to observe him frequently and was motivated by him to try casting himself. One day, he went to Mad Mardigan for advice on how to become a caster and to see if he would mind if he cast with him since he might bring a new perspective to the casting as a professional DotA player. He was given a chance by Mad Mardigan, which was well-received by others. As a result, he kept casting both with Tobiwan and Mad Mardigan. Later, he switched to DOTA 2, where he noticed that there appeared to be more opportunities and interest. Due to his casting prowess, he decided to take a two-year break from professional competitions in 2013 to concentrate on it. He missed competing, though, and came back in 2015. He only concentrated on acting and casting full-time after earning his degree in English and media.
