MapleStory, which his cousin introduced him to, was Xcalibur's first video game. However, he didn't enjoy it and stopped playing it soon after. Later, his cousin encouraged him to play 'Naruto: 3rd Shinobi Wars,' a mod-WarCraft 3 game that featured playable Naruto characters instead of the standard WC heroes. When that server went down when he was in fourth grade, they switched to DotA. He really liked it and continued with it until he was in seventh grade. He then moved on to Heroes of Newerth before spending ten months in StarCraft 2. He then began playing Dota 2 in the summer of 2012 and has made it his primary game ever since.

XcaliburYe made his pro-Dota 2 debut after Fly noticed him on the leaderboards and invited him to act as a last-minute stand-in for Fnatic in the 2014 The International 4 tournament. He talked to his parents, and his father encouraged him to go because it was right before the summer vacation and wouldn't interfere with his schoolwork in any way. He finally joined Team Singularity in February 2019 after playing with a few other teams.
