Popular Twitch streamer Kaceytron was recently accused of violating the platform’s community rules, leading to a ban from the service.
Twitch has a reputation for taking strong measures against rule infractions, but it has also come under fire for inconsistently enforcing bans. Kaceytron’s case seems to be yet another instance of how streamers frequently disagree with the justifications for bans.
An avid online following has been built up for American streamer Kaceytron, who has been active online for ten years. She plays a variety of games, such as League of Legends, Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto 5, and others, and currently has over 564,000 Twitch followers. She also does Just Chatting and IRL streams.
While Kaceytron enjoys enormous popularity and a devoted following thanks to her wide range of content, her remarks have occasionally caused controversy and major debate. She gained notoriety last month when she charged prominent Twitch streamer xQc with using the power of his audience to take advantage of and control his ex-partner Adept. On June 26, Kaceytron once more made headlines, but this time it wasn’t because of her divisive remarks. She was subject to a ban on Twitch, while the specific cause is yet unknown. But going to her channel indicates that “Content from this channel has been removed at the request of the copyright holder,” which implies that the ban is connected to copyright violation.
On her Twitter account, Kaceytron responded to the suspension by retweeting the ban news and adding, “And I’ll do it again.” It’s important to note that this is just Kaceytron’s second ban on Twitch, despite the fact that the length of the ban is unknown. In 2020, Kaceytron received her first suspension after making a derogatory remark regarding the coronavirus epidemic in which she implied that the absence of elderly and economically underprivileged people would be beneficial to the world.
She humorously declared her intention to ignore the lockdown and spread the infection as widely as she could. It was initially an indefinite ban, but it was eventually only in place for 10 days. The current ban is likely to be transitory because it seems to be connected to infringements of copyright policies. Popular streamer Mizkif was banned from Twitch earlier this year after tuning in to MILF Manor during a live broadcast. There have been concerns raised about Twitch’s inconsistent ban enforcement, meanwhile, given that a number of other streamers have participated in same behaviour without suffering any repercussions.
In her response to the ban, Kaceytron demonstrated a readiness to repeat the behaviours that got her into trouble, showing that she disagreed with the decision that got her banned. Kaceytron must be careful going forwards, though, as continuing infractions might result in a lifetime ban.
