xQc Responds To Pokimane Comments

Felix “xQc” Lengyel, a streaming celebrity, retaliated against Imane “Pokimane” Anys for “flexing” her ethics amid the controversy surrounding his signing a $100 million deal to stream on Kick.

The internet was ablaze when xQc announced on June 16 that he would be signing a non-exclusive contract with Kick for almost $100 million. Many streamers praised the Twitch star for receiving such a huge reward, but many others criticised it because Kick was supported by Stake, the cryptocurrency casino and sports betting platform.

One of Kick’s most outspoken detractors, Pokimane, claimed that she wouldn’t accept the $10 million offer because it would “compromise” her “morals and ethics.” xQc was quite irritated by that, so he responded on stream and on Twitter.

xQc said; “Morals and ethics about what? You have to be more specific, you can’t just say morals and ethics. I mean, that thing is pretty obvious when you talk about other topics. What morals and ethics is there to f*cking breach? I genuinely don’t get it, about what? Oh, it’s the same gamba equals the win argument. So instead of doing the win argument, it’s layering morals and ethics on top of that. I’m not pressed, I just think it’s weird under that pretext because later down the line, when they’re all proven wrong, nobody will go back and correct the thing by saying ‘Hey you know what guys, it wasn’t about gamba.’ They never go back and fix this.”

The former Overwatch champion then cited gambling deals that streams had accepted that had not angered the public. Some of whom were Stake members themselves. A few days later, he responded by criticising Pokimane and other people on Twitter for “flexing” their ethics. “Flexing your morals and ethics on other people around you comes from pure insecurity. Nothing else,” xQc tweeted.

It seems unlikely that the turmoil around the topic of streaming gambling will end any time soon given how persistent the discussion has been.
